Statewide and Municipal Proclamations and Recognition
Sister-to-Sister: International Network of Professional African American Women, Inc. was established in May 2020 and, in a remarkably short span of time, has garnered statewide and municipal proclamations and other recognition recognizing its leadership and transformative work. These official honors, bestowed by Colorado's Governor and Denver's Mayor, validate the organization's reputation as a dynamic public charity that addresses equity, health justice, and community advancement for Black women and girls. These recognitions accentuate Sister-to-Sister, Inc.'s rapid rise and sustained influence – showcasing how, within just a few years, its programming and advocacy serve as a national model for making meaningful change.

Colorado Black Round Table Lawrence H. Borum Award
October 16, 2025
Sister-to-Sister, Inc. received the Lawrence H. Borum Award for "Outstanding Service to the Colorado Black Community" from the Colorado Black Round Table on October 16, 2025. The award was presented during the organization's annual Gaining Ground in the Black Community Social Equity Summit. This recognition honors our commitment to creating life-enriching spaces for Black women and girls through support, education, networking, and mentoring.

Proclaiming Colorado’s Black History Exhibition

Proclaiming Colorado’s Black History Exhibition
The "Proclaiming Colorado's Black History" two-year exhibition at the Museum of Boulder, a groundbreaking multimedia showcase chronicling the profound journey, resilience, and achievements of Black Coloradans from 1840 to today, was developed over several years. The exhibition features oral histories, artifacts, biographies, interactive installations, and artwork spanning pivotal themes such as community-building, arts, religion, social justice, Afrofuturism, and civil rights. By amplifying Black voices and highlighting both the triumphs and the struggles
faced by Black residents, the exhibit not only preserves underrepresented stories but also invites all visitors to examine Colorado's past and envision a more inclusive future. The exhibition, after a two-year run at the Museum of Boulder, on September 30, 2025, will begin statewide rotation to other museums and schools.
Sister-to-Sister, Inc.'s inclusion as the only nonprofit organization featured in this historic exhibition is a powerful recognition of its exceptional leadership and lasting contributions to Colorado's Black community. This honor underscores Sister-to-Sister, Inc.'s role as an influential advocate and changemaker, strengthening the organization’s legacy as a beacon of empowerment, public service, and cultural preservation for Black women and girls throughout Colorado.

"Visioning: Pathways to Opening Doors Week"
July 12–19, 2025
This proclamation by Governor Jared Polis designates July 12–19, 2025, "Visioning: Pathways to Opening Doors Week" across Colorado. It acknowledges the persistent systemic barriers Black women face in law, medicine, philanthropy, academia, military, and elected office, and recognizes the essential contributions they make despite these obstacles. The Governor commends Sister-to-Sister, Inc. for hosting an empowering event that offers mentorship, professional development, and networking to Black women, and for spotlighting trailblazing
female leaders whose achievements inspire progress statewide.


"Sister-to-Sister 5th Anniversary Day"

Mayor Mike Johnston honors Sister-to-Sister, Inc. by proclaiming May 2, 2025, as the organization's official 5th Anniversary Day in Denver. The proclamation celebrates the organization’s dedication to advancing racial justice, creating transformative environments, and investing in sustainable pathways for Black women and girls to reach their highest potential. "Towards Health Equity: Answering Silent Cries for Help Day"
April 6, 2024
This proclamation, issued on April 6, 2024, by Governor Jared Polis, designates "Towards Health Equity: Answering Silent Cries for Help Day" to recognize the ongoing health disparities affecting Black women due to racism and sexism, as confirmed by both the CDC and the Colorado Health Access Survey. The proclamation supports efforts led by advocacy organizations, including Sister-to-Sister, Inc., in urging systemic reforms and community mobilization to transform health systems and improve population health equity.


"Black Maternal Health Week"
April 11–17, 2025
Governor Jared Polis proclaims April 11–17, 2025 as "Black Maternal Health Week" in Colorado, citing a crisis of disproportionate maternal mortality and health complications experienced by Black women and birthing people. The proclamation credits organizations, such as Sister-to-Sister, Inc., for their active roles in dismantling structural racism, amplifying birth workers, and advocating for immediate policy shifts and Black-led maternal health solutions across the state.


"Towards Health Equity: Saving Lives of Black Women & Infants Day"
February 25, 2023
Governor Jared Polis proclaimed February 25, 2023, as "Towards Health Equity: Saving Lives of Black Women & Infants Day" in Colorado. This recognition honors Sister-to-Sister, Inc. as the first organization in the state to publicly spotlight the crises of Black maternal and infant mortality and morbidity through its inaugural Towards Health Equity gala, featuring Dayna Bowen-Matthew, Dean, George Washington University School of Law, Washington, D.C., a nationally renowned expert in law, policy, and academia. The event brought vital awareness, education, and advocacy to the forefront, cementing Sister-to-Sister, Inc.'s role as a trailblazer in addressing health disparities and saving lives statewide.


"Sister-to-Sister Day"
February 25, 2023
This Mayoral Proclamation, City and County of Denver, Colorado, made by then Mayor Michael B. Hancock names February 25, 2023, "Sister-to-Sister Day" for Maternal Health in Denver. Recognizing the higher health risks and maternal mortality rates faced by Black women, it lauds Sister-to-Sister, Inc. for raising awareness and mobilizing support for Black maternal and child health.
